SUTTER AND BUTTE COUNTIES, CA (YSBC) - The CIF Northern Section released their girls volleyball brackets on Oct. 23 and all three of our teams were placed in a postseason bracket.

Additionally, the Gridley girls flag football team qualified for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.

Here’s where they landed!

Division III

Gridley - The Bulldogs were given the No.3 seed in the bracket after finishing second in the Westside League.

Gridley’s two league losses came off the hands of Orland, which grabbed the second seed in the D-III bracket.

The Bulldogs hosted Lassen on Tuesday night. Gridley defeated Lassen in straight sets during the Red Bluff tournament in September

If the Bulldogs were successful on Tuesday, they will play the winner of Orland/Central Valley on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Live Oak - The Live Oak Lions volleyball team wete given the No. 5 seed in the Division III bracket after a .500 season with 13 wins.

This was the first time Live Oak finished .500 in the regular season since 2009. This is also their first trip to the playoffs since 2009.

The Lions took a long road trip up north and took on Yreka Tuesday night.

Despite this being the first postseason in the program in 17 years, Live Oak brings back more than 75% of its roster back next season.

Division VI

Biggs - The Wolverines were given the No. 10 seed in the Division VI bracket as they traveled to Greenville and played at Plumas Charter on Tuesday.

Biggs finished in a tie for last in the Mid-Valley League with CORE Butte with a 2-8 record.

The Wolverines had a positive outlook scenario as they have already seen Plumas Charter in a non-league matchup on Sept. 30 where Biggs won in five sets.

If the Wolverines won on Tuesday, they would have traveled to Etna on Thursday.

Flag Football

Gridley - In the program's second season, Gridley has already made their stamp in the Sac-Joaquin Section as they won the Pioneer Valley League outright and grabbed the No. 1 overall seed in the Division V bracket.

The Bulldogs were the No. 16 in last year’s SJS D-V bracket as they won a play-in game to get knocked out by Orestimba last year.

Gridley picked up huge wins over Wheatland and Colfax in the final couple weeks of the regular season.

Gridley hosted Waterford in a 1/16 matchup and if the Bulldogs were successful in grabbing their first playoff victory for the program, they would host the winner of Destiny Christian/Sacramento Adventist on Monday, Nov. 2.
