GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley Titans Youth Football program continued its strong start to the 2026 season Sunday, Aug. 23, with the 8U, 10U and 14U teams each earning victories over the Willows Jr. Honkers.

The 8U Titans relied on defense in a 15-0 victory, keeping Willows off the scoreboard throughout the game.

“The Titans played hard-nosed defense throughout the game and held them scoreless,” 8U coach Jesse Vasquez said.

Gridley moved the ball steadily on offense, with quarterback AJ Luquin accounting for two touchdowns.

“The Titans’ offense moved the ball methodically down the field,” Vasquez said.

The 10U Titans also came away with a 41-6 victory over Willows.

Six Titans found the end zone during the game. Hendrix Daehn, Kanon Buzzard, Ryker Huff, Jax Terrell, Weston Parker and Noble Smith each scored touchdowns for Gridley. Morgan Ruggirello added two extra-point kicks.

“The Titans had a big game and came away with the 41-6 victory,” 10U coach Randall Huff said.

The 14U Titans matched the 10U team’s 41-6 score to earn their second victory of the season.

“The Titans dominated every aspect of the game for their second win of the season,” 14U coach Aaron Lumsden said.

Gridley’s defense forced several turnovers, helping create scoring opportunities for the offense and special teams.

Quarterback Cal Lumsden threw three touchdown passes, connecting with Caleb Oakley, Victor Guillen and Maverick Bidegain for one score each.

Lumsden and Anthony Flores-Hernandez added rushing touchdowns. Bennet Ryan also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

“The Titans forced several turnovers on defense to help pave the way for their offense and special teams to score points,” Aaron Lumsden said.

Gridley’s teams return to action Sunday, Aug. 30, with games in Orland.
