CHICO, CA (MPG) - The Feather River Lapidary and Mineral Society will host its 18th Annual Rock, Gem and Jewelry Show on Sept. 19 and 20 at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds, offering two days of exhibits, shopping and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.

The show will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20. Admission is $6, and children 16 and younger will be admitted free.

More than 40 vendors from across the western United States will offer finished jewelry, polished rocks, minerals, fossils and other lapidary items. Visitors can also view displays featuring winners of the annual Worldwide Tumbling Contest, thundereggs, Blue Forest petrified wood and other geological specimens.

Club members will display handcrafted items including necklaces, beadwork, rain chains and silversmithing.

The show will include family-friendly activities such as geode cutting, a treasure wheel, a kids volcano activity and silent auctions for adults and children. Door prize drawings featuring jewelry and cash prizes will be held every 30 minutes. The first 200 children through the doors each day will receive a free shark tooth necklace.

Organizers expect collectors and rockhounds from throughout Northern California and neighboring states to attend the event. In 2025, the show attracted more than 3,000 visitors.

The Feather River Lapidary and Mineral Society hosts the annual event to promote interest in geology, gemstones and lapidary arts, including the cutting, polishing and engraving of stones. The Oroville-based club also offers monthly meetings, rockhounding field trips, classes and hands-on instruction at its rock shop, where members can learn to create jewelry from stone.

During the show, the society will award scholarships to Northern California students pursuing studies in Earth science.
