GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - One of Gridley's longtime residents recently reached a remarkable milestone, celebrating her 100th birthday surrounded by friends.

Friends at Gridley Parks and Recreation, along with her personal friends, made the special occasion even more memorable with a breakfast featuring her favorite foods followed by a game of bingo.

To the tune of music from the 1930s and 1940s, Lois Langford celebrated with what Jamie Luevano described as "a decadent white cake decorated with pink flowers and gold flakes."

"Lois was showered with happy birthday wishes, flowers and gift cards. Her favorite was the huge sunflower that reminded her of Kansas before moving to California in 1960," Luevano said.

"It's not often we get to celebrate such a special occasion as a 100th birthday," Luevano said. "Have a wonderful birthday, Lois, from the Gridley Recreation staff."
