Live Oak Little League Eyes Tournament Comeback

PALO CEDRO, CA (MPG) - The Live Oak Little League 10-12 softball team lost to Chico LL on Sunday, June 28 1-0 in the winners bracket of the Shasta Sections tournament.
Live Oak won their opener on June 26 with a dominant 10-0 win over Almanor LL
LO pitchers Eveya Martinez and Charlotte Dudek combined for a no hitter in the circle with 13-combined strikeouts for the win.

Martinez tossed four innings in the victory while she had 11 Almanor hitters empty on strikes.
Martinez’s 76% strike percentage and Dudek’s six pitches in the fifth secured the dominant win.
Martinez led the way for LO with three hits from the plate and two runs-batted-in (RBI) during the win on June 29.
LO pounded 13 hits against Almanor.

On Sunday versus Chico, it was a pitchers duel between Martinez and Chico as there were only three total hits allowed in the game.
The lone run of the game on Sunday came when Chico laid down a bunt in the third inning on a throwing error to first with a runner on second.
Martinez tossed five innings with 11 strikeouts and three walks in the loss.

The two LO hits came from Hannah Lancieri and Juliana Alvarez.
With the kiss, LO moved to the losers bracket where they played against Red Bluff LL.
If LO was successful to beat Red Bluff, they would have had to beat Chico on Tuesday and Wednesday to win the Shasta Section tournament.
