YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The Sutter County Library welcomed magician Brian Scott to its Summer Reading Program, bringing an evening of magic, laughter and reading-themed entertainment to local families.

Because the library's HVAC system remains under repair, the event took place at First Lutheran Church, which has provided temporary space for library programs and services.

Scott, a San Francisco Bay Area performer who has appeared at hundreds of libraries throughout California during the past 20 years, presented his "Biblio Spectacular" show to children and families attending the event.

The interactive program combined magic, audience participation and lessons designed to encourage curiosity, critical thinking and library use.

"My incredible library program Biblio Spectacular 'nudges' kids to think and wonder," Scott said. "I encourage kids to wonder how and why things are the way they are. And they want to find out the answers."

Throughout the performance, Scott encouraged children to ask questions and seek answers through books and library resources.

"The answers are ready for them in the library," Scott said.

Library officials thanked Scott for helping create a memorable experience for local families during this year's Summer Reading Program.

"We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Friends of the Sutter County Library, the California State Library, and Lunch at the Library for their continued support of our Summer Reading Program," library officials said. "These partnerships help make programs like this possible for our community."

The library also recognized First Lutheran Church for providing space while repairs continue on the library's heating and air conditioning system.

"A special thank you goes to First Lutheran Church for generously allowing us to use their space while the library's HVAC system is being repaired," library officials said. "Your support has helped us continue serving our community during a challenging time."

Officials said they are hopeful the library will reopen and resume normal operations sometime next week and encouraged residents to watch for updates.
