GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Gridley Little League recently completed its city league tournament before beginning All-Star play, wrapping up the season.

The Gridley Majors Tigers, coached by Grant Benson, Hank Smith and John Cooprider, took on the Cubs, coached by Levi Rosser.

The undefeated Cubs entered the tournament with a 14-0 record, while the Tigers came in at 3-6-2, one of the last-place teams, according to coach Hank Smith. The Tigers defeated the Cubs 4-3 in extra innings.

"The coaches are very proud of the boys for showing up and giving it their all. They improved so much throughout the season," said Smith.

The Tigers roster includes Noble Smith, No. 5; Emmett Thompson, No. 1; Nash Benson, No. 4; Rush Cooprider, No. 9; Israel Hernandez, No. 2; Jake Shimizu, No. 3; Nova Sharrock, No. 6; Oscar Navarro, No. 7; Tyler Smith, No. 10; and Owen Brunet, No. 8.
