Gridley Little League Minor Hurricanes Take Championship

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – The Gridley Little League Minors championship game was played under the lights May 26, pitting the Hurricanes against the Tigers.

The Hurricanes, coached by Martin Zavala and Pete Waller, entered the championship in good standing after posting a solid season record of 11 wins, four losses and one tie.

The Tigers, coached by Joey Ayon, entered the championship game with nine wins and eight losses.

After an exciting game, the Gridley Hurricanes earned a walk-off victory. Trailing 8-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning, All-Star selectee Ben Waller tripled to drive in two runs.

The Hurricanes captured the Gridley Little League Minors championship with a final score of 9-8.

Members of the Gridley Hurricanes are Aiden Zavala No. 5, Ben Waller No. 6, Bo Dake No. 3, Bob Waller No. 7, Conner Chand No. 11, Evan Kullar No. 10, Fallon Schaff No. 4, Leonardo Banuelos No. 9, Maddux Zavala No. 2, Myles Brock No. 12 and Saxon Ross No. 1.
