GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Participants show off their handmade newspaper fashions during a recent Newspaper Fashion Show at the Gridley Library. From left are library staff member Issac Kelly, Saxon Long, Gridley Herald Editor Lloyd Green Jr., Gridley Herald Manager and Marketing Specialist Seti Long, and library staff member Lea Gadbois. Green and Long joined the event after hearing about the unique library program, with Long creating a newspaper coat for Green and a newspaper dress for herself. Although public attendance was limited, library staff and participants embraced the creative challenge, turning newspapers into wearable art. The Gridley Library regularly hosts free programs and activities for the community. Upcoming events include the Ugly Art Club, a judgment-free adult art session from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the library, 299 Spruce St. Photo by MPG Staff
