GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - In a surprise twist, one of the standout acts of the 2026 Red Suspenders Day celebration was The Spoofs, performing on behalf of Edward Jones Investments.
The band stepped in after a mix-up over the date with another entertainer, according to the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce.
Lisa Van De Hey of the chamber said The Spoofs originally planned to participate in the parade and hoped to play a few songs along the sidelines during the event.
Instead, chamber organizers contacted Rob Haeberle, one of the band’s frontmen and an Edward Jones financial advisor, to ask if the group would replace scheduled headliner Angela Guiteirez on short notice.
Wearing black-and-white Edward Jones promotional T-shirts, the five-member band took the stage at the Daddow Park gazebo and quickly drew a crowd.
The group performed a mix of modern rock and pop songs, including Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s “Taking Care of Business.”
Chamber President Lynne Spencer praised the performance.
“They were just amazing - people loved them.” Spencer said.
