OROVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Butte County Board of Supervisors has approved five-year trucking service agreements with three local companies, including a Gridley-based firm, to support road maintenance, storm response and public works operations across the county.

The agreements went to Scarberry Trucking LLC of Gridley, Greenz Trucking Towing Transport & Logistics LLC of Magalia and Kite Solutions LLC of Chico. Each agreement carries a maximum not-to-exceed amount of $125,000 through April 28, 2031.

Butte County Public Works uses trucking contractors to haul aggregate materials for chip seal projects, gravel road maintenance, asphalt delivery, landfill operations and debris cleanup tied to local storm events, officials said. Chip seal projects are commonly used on rural roads to extend pavement life by applying a protective rock and asphalt surface treatment. The hauling contracts support delivery of those materials to county road projects throughout the year.

County officials said the department planned to award agreements to multiple vendors if doing so served the county’s best interest, allowing Public Works flexibility in responding to seasonal maintenance demands and emergency situations.

Butte County issued an invitation for bids Jan. 21 and received nine responsive bids by mid-February. Six of the bidders were located within Butte County.

Officials said the trucking services also support hauling connected to landfill operations and cleanup efforts following severe weather events, when road damage and debris removal can increase demand for heavy equipment and material transport.
