LIVE OAK, CA (MPG) - Live Oak residents can dispose of household waste and recyclable materials during a free community cleanup day scheduled for Saturday, May 2.

The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon at 9633 N St. and is open to Live Oak residents only. Participants must show a utility bill as proof of residency. Organizers said residents are responsible for loading and unloading their own materials and should sort items before arriving.

Accepted items include household trash, scrap metal, yard debris, bundled yard clippings, appliances with a limit of two, old furniture, mattresses, box springs and futon mattresses. The event will also accept electronic waste, including televisions, computer monitors, household computers, peripherals and telephones, along with fluorescent light bulbs, tubes, HID lights and standard household batteries. Tires up to 22 inches in rim diameter will be accepted, with a maximum of nine per household, and all tires must be removed from rims before drop-off.

Officials said vehicle batteries and other lead-acid batteries will not be accepted. Any hazardous materials not specifically listed as accepted will also be turned away. Commercial dumping and salvaging are prohibited at the site.

Free compost will be available while supplies last. The cleanup day is organized for Live Oak residents in coordination with Recology Yuba-Sutter and supported by state recycling programs and local partners.

Residents with questions about acceptable materials or event details can contact Recology Yuba-Sutter, 530-743-6933.
