LIVE OAK, CA (MPG) - The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office has recognized Deputy Kenneth Combs with a Commander’s Commendation for actions in two separate incidents that officials said helped save a life and prevent a prohibited person from possessing a firearm.

The commendation cites Combs’ response on Nov. 27, 2025, while he was on routine patrol in Live Oak. Combs noticed a man slumped over in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle at Dollar General.

After knocking on the window and receiving no response, Combs opened the vehicle door and found the man unresponsive and struggling to breathe. Recognizing signs of a possible opioid overdose, Combs administered Narcan and began lifesaving efforts.

When fire personnel arrived, Combs assisted responders and administered a second dose of Narcan. The man soon began breathing normally. Fire personnel later told deputies that Combs’ quick actions likely saved the man’s life.

The Sheriff’s Office also cited Combs’ response to a March 3 call involving a parolee reportedly in possession of a shotgun during a domestic disturbance.

Through investigation and coordination with other deputies, Combs helped conduct a high-risk traffic stop. Deputies took the suspect into custody and recovered the shotgun and ammunition, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the recognition reflects Combs’ ability to remain calm under pressure while working with fellow deputies to resolve dangerous situations safely.
