BIGGS, CA (MPG) - Pacific Gas and Electric Company will be improving the safety and reliability of the natural gas system in front of and near the Biggs Community Hall at 280 B Street starting March 2.

PG&E will not be excavating or using traffic controls before 8:15 a.m. or after 1:45 p.m. so as not to impact student drop-off and pickup times for Biggs Elementary School, which is next door.

PG&E is installing a device to allow remote monitoring and emergency shut off of the gas main along B Street, requiring about 50 feet of trenching in the westbound lane. Flaggers and electronic signs will be in place during work hours.  Crews will be excavating in the street weekdays until about March 12, then installing the new equipment, completing the work by about April 16.
