Filing Opens for June Primary

BUTTE COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The candidate filing period for the June 2 Statewide Direct Primary Election opened Feb. 9 and runs through March 6, according to Butte County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters Keaton Denley.
Voters will choose candidates for federal, state, judicial, school and county offices. The ballot includes United States Representative for the 1st Congressional District, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Controller, Treasurer, Attorney General and Insurance Commissioner. Voters also will select a Member of the State Board of Equalization for the 1st Equalization District and a Member of the State Assembly for the 3rd Assembly District.
Judicial seats include four associate justice positions and Superior Court judges for Department 2 and Department 3. School offices include State Superintendent of Public Instruction and County Superintendent of Schools.
At the county level, offices up for election include Supervisor for the 2nd and 3rd districts, Assessor, Auditor-Controller, County Clerk-Recorder and Treasurer-Tax Collector.
Denley urged prospective candidates to review the Candidate Guide available at www.ButteVotes.net or contact the Elections Office at 530-552-3400, Option 1. Information for state and federal offices is available through the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ca.gov.
The filing window closes at 5 p.m. March 6. Candidates must submit required documents within that period to qualify for the ballot.
The primary will determine which candidates advance to the November general election.
