GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - A new independent pharmacy has opened in Gridley following the closure of Rite Aid last year, restoring a locally owned option for prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.

Pharmacist Manjinder “Manny” Singh opened Gridley Pharmacy in mid-January after Rite Aid closed, leaving the city with two remaining pharmacies. Increased traffic at CVS and Safeway led to longer wait times for customers.

Singh most recently worked at CVS in Gridley. He completed undergraduate studies at University of California, Davis and earned pharmaceutical degrees from North State University in Elk Grove. He has worked at several pharmacies in the region.

When Rite Aid shut its doors, Singh said he saw a need for another option in town. He partnered with Anthony Morales, a pharmacy technician who has served the Gridley area for 34 years.

“Right now, we are receiving a really great response from the community,” Singh said. He said he appreciates the support from residents as the business establishes itself.

Gridley Pharmacy does not offer drive through service but provides free delivery in Gridley, Biggs and Live Oak. Singh said the store aims to offer competitive pricing by operating independently. Vaccinations are also available.

Singh said he works with insurance providers to help customers address high-cost prescriptions when possible.

“We’re looking forward to how much we can grow and what else we can do for the community,” Singh said.

Gridley Pharmacy accepts most major insurance plans. The store is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The pharmacy can be reached at 530-456-6449.
