GRIDLEY, CA (YSBC) - The Gridley Bulldogs boys’ basketball team set up an opportunity to claim a share of their fourth consecutive league title after they beat the Orland Trojans 63-48 on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Gridley and Orland have had battles over the past few seasons on the hardwood despite the Bulldogs taking the last eight matchups.

Gridley’s tough defense forced the Trojans to slow starts in the first four minutes of the first three quarters in the game.

The Bulldogs opened with a 9-0 run to start the game and in the second quarter, Gridley started the quarter with a 9-2 run.

The Bulldogs built a decisive double-digit lead at the half as they led 34-17.

Gridley’s offense had multiple contributors in the scorebook, but Bulldogs senior Bikram Kullar led Gridley with 14 points in the win.

Gridley head coach Nathan Link expressed to Yuba Sutter Butte Colusa Sports that he was happy with the defensive effort in the win.

“We worked on it during practice and we were able to be physical with them,” Link said.

The Bulldogs denied limited chances for Orland to have second-chance opportunities as they rebounded the ball great throughout the night.

Gridley pushed the pace up the floor quickly and that led to multiple players getting into the mix on the scoring sheet for the Bulldogs.
