GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley High School Drama Club is preparing to bring the classic musical “Guys and Dolls” to the stage next month in the Guardian Building.

First produced on Broadway in 1950 and later adapted into a 1955 film starring Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando, “Guys and Dolls” remains a staple of American musical theater.

Set in New York City’s gambling underworld, the story follows Sky Masterson, who wagers that he can win the heart of missionary Sarah Brown. At the same time, his friend Nathan Detroit, a craps game organizer, struggles to convince his longtime fiancée Adelaide to marry him. Through music and comedy, the characters confront questions about loyalty, faith and commitment.

Gridley teachers Ethan Jacobsen and Connie Quist serve as producers and directors. They are guiding students through rehearsals while also overseeing set construction and coordinating lighting and sound design.

The production will run for three performances: March 11 at 4 p.m., and March 12 and March 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available through the Gridley High School Sideline Store at ghs.gusd.org.
