GRIDLEY, CA (YSBC) - The Gridley Bulldogs girls’ basketball team stayed above .500 in Westside League play as they defeated the Corning Cardinals 43-32 on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
Gridley came out of the opening tip with a strong-first quarter performance and led 16-4 after the opening quarter.
Corning stormed back in the second quarter and cut the Bulldogs early-decisive lead to two at the half.
After strong second half efforts from Gridley’s sophomore Iris Counihan and senior Aubree Weber, who combined for 15 of the Bulldogs’ 25 second-half points, Gridley held on for the double-digit victory.

McCray added that the young Bulldogs roster has made significant strides since the beginning of the season and have done a great job as a team.
Counihan and Weber combined for 20 points in the Gridley win.
McCray told YSBC the goal for their final three games of the season is to come in on a daily basis and give it their best effort on the floor together.
