NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, CA (MPG) – In the wake of the heavy storms that hit the area over the Christmas holiday and following weekend, some Sacramento area National Wildlife Refuges will be closed due to flooding.
As of Dec. 26, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services website lists the Colusa NWR Hunt Area (east side), Colusa NWR Auto Tour and Sutter NWR Hunt Area as closed until further notice.
The website notice reminds recreational hunters that “other areas are subject to closure without notice. Please use extreme caution when visiting during or after bad weather, as flooding can occur without warning and road shoulders are soft and will not support your vehicle.”
The Delevan NWR hunt area, Colusa NWR rail and observation platform, Colusa NWR hunt area (west side), and Sacramento River NWR remain open at the time of this article, per the fws.gov/refuge/Sacramento website.
