GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Gridley High School was buzzing with excitement as the Bulldogs football team prepared for their state championship run, and the campus was getting into the holiday spirit with a packed calendar of events leading into winter break.
Friday Send-Off Celebrates Football's Historic Season
The school hosted a winter sports rally last Friday, honoring not only the football team’s incredible journey to state but also celebrating the start of winter sports season. Then this Friday, we are holding the 71st annual Gridley Invitational Basketball Tournament (GIBT). This long-standing tournament brings competitive basketball teams from across the region to Gridley, giving the Bulldogs a chance to face off against some seriously intense competition right here on their home court. The energy on campus has been electric as students rally behind their teammates heading into this historic opportunity.

Holiday Spirit Fills the Halls
While Gridley High won't have a traditional Christmas light display this year, the school is planning to bring festive cheer inside with decorations in the hallways and at the front entrance. Leadership is working to transform the campus into a winter wonderland for students to enjoy during the final weeks before break. The holiday festivities continue with a Christmas-themed movie night scheduled for Monday, Dec. 22, giving students a chance to unwind and celebrate together before finals week.
Finals Week Support and Sweet Surprises
To help students power through the stress of finals during the last week of school, leadership will be offering hot chocolate to keep everyone warm and energized. Additionally, students can spread holiday cheer by purchasing Candy Grams throughout December, a popular tradition that lets Bulldogs send sweet messages to friends and classmates. With state championship dreams, winter sports in full swing, and holiday activities around every corner, Gridley High students have plenty of reasons to celebrate this December.
