GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Patrons to the Gridley High School Triple B event Saturday, Nov. 15, were met with warmth, the smell of delicious chilies and the promise of a tasty, barbecued meal as they arrived at the Butte County Fairgrounds.

The Triple B Dinner, which stands for Beans, Brews and BBQ, invited the community to support Gridley’s large FFA Club, either by sponsoring a table, entering the chili cook off, donating an item for the silent auction or simply enjoying a dinner of barbecued ribs or chicken.

Although the evening was cold and damp, the Triple B had a great turn out.

The expo hall at the Butte County Fairground was packed. Upon entry, guests could browse a variety of sponsored auction gifts, purchase tickets for various drawings, or purchase a higher priced tickets at $20 each for the chance to take home a Remington 783 Winchester black bolt action rifle 22.

The Chili Cook-Off brought community members and organizations out to put their best recipes to the test.

Guests were able to sample chili’s from both youth division and open division. Blends included rabbit meat chili’s, smoky meatball chili’s, and chilies with high-end meats such as prime rib.

Local CALFIRE Station 74 would bring the heat and take the win for “Best Chili” in the open division with their savory and smokey chili. The Santillan Brothers would stun with their home-made recipe, taking the win for the youth division.

It was a wonderful evening for fundraising and fantastic fare.

FFA Advisor Madelyn Vaca said, “A huge thank you to everyone in our community who came out to support our fundraising event!”
