OROVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Butte County Department of Water and Resource Conservation invites Palermo residents to attend a Community Outreach Meeting on Wednesday Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. to review the results of the Palermo Drainage Master Plan and discuss next steps to reduce flooding in the area. The meeting will take place at the Palermo Grange Hall, 7600 Irwin Ave.
For years, the Palermo community has faced persistent flooding, leading to property damage, roadway closures and water quality concerns. The Palermo Drainage Master Plan presents a comprehensive strategy to reduce flood risks through targeted infrastructure improvements and community-driven solutions.
“The Drainage Master Plan is about turning local knowledge into a plan of action,” said Kamie Loeser, Director of the Butte County Water and Resource Conservation Department. “It’s the first step toward lasting flood protection, one that opens the doors to future project funding opportunities to help Palermo build a safer, more resilient community.”
At the meeting, residents will learn about key flooding challenges identified through technical modeling and community feedback; review eight conceptual projects designed to reduce localized flooding impacts; discuss estimated project costs and potential funding sources to move projects toward implementation and receive updates on related efforts, including the Palermo Clean Water Consolidation Project.
The County encourages all community members to attend, ask questions, and share their feedback as the County finalizes its plan for a safer, more flood-resilient Palermo.
