GRIDLEY, CA (YSBC) – The Gridley Bulldogs football team won their fourth-consecutive game to open the 2025 season on Friday, Sept. 26 as they won a nail biter 7-3 over the Paradise Bobcats.
As the lights shined bright on the "Boneyard" like Gridley's "City of Stars" homecoming theme, it was a battle on the gridiron.
Going into the game, Bulldogs head coach Daniel Zumwalt expressed to Yuba Sutter Butte Colusa Sports that it was going to be a tough game and Paradise wouldn't be taken lightly.
Gridley scored the only touchdown of the game when junior running back Manny Sandoval was the only player to break into the end zone in the second quarter.
Sandoval rushed for 91 yards in the win off of 22 carries.
Zumwalt added that he was happy they were able to complete a couple of passes throughout the game and it is a possibility of opening more options down the road.

LIVE OAK, CA (YSBC) – The Live Oak Lions grabbed first victory of 2025 after they outlasted a 47-34 shootout with the Central Valley Falcons on Friday, Sept. 26.

MAXWELL, CA (YSBC) – The Biggs Wolverines opened Mid-Valley League play with a 49-34 defeat on Friday, Sept. 26 to the Maxwell Panthers.
Scoring wasn't an issue in this game, but it was another impressive week from sophomore Hudson Brewer.
Biggs head coach Brian Harrison expressed to YSBC that Brewer is a coach's dream and he continues to get better on a daily basis.
Brewer accounted for 250 yards of offense (174 rushing and 84 receiving yards).
Wolverines senior quarterback and Butte commit, Skyler Long completed nine passes for 140 yards. Turnovers haunted Biggs in the game that resulted in another loss.
