LIVE OAK, CA (YSBC) – The Live Oak Lions football team suffered their third straight loss to open the 2025 season as they were blown out by the Winters Warriors 42-7 on Friday, Sept. 19.
This was the first game of the year where Live Oak was beaten by more than one possession and there were bright spots that head coach Robert Tilton expressed to Yuba Sutter Butte Colusa Sports.
Lions senior running back Ian Miranda found the end zone in the second quarter from three yards out for the only time that Live Oak lit up the scoreboard in the loss.
Miranda rushed the ball 21 times for 150 yards on the ground. Live Oak senior quarterback Bradley Perigo completed three passes for 25 yards and added 39 yards on the ground.
Tilton expressed to YSBC that Perigo has embraced the role and is getting better with the transition of focusing on the position.
The Lions defense struggled against the powerful offense of Winters as they had 419 total yards of offense. The assumption of a lot of people is the Warriors graduated a lot of talent and they won't be as good as they were, but they continue to prove those individuals wrong.
Tilton told YSBC that Live Oak is ready to continue fighting for a postseason berth and it starts this week as they are scheduled to host Central Valley with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

DURHAM, CA (YSBC) – The Biggs Wolverines endured their biggest loss of the season as they were beaten 38-6 by the Durham Trojans on Friday, Sept. 19.
Biggs head coach Brian Harrison told YSBC that the game against Durham was like his Super Bowl and he expressed that it was an old-fashioned but whooping as Durham was simply ready and the Wolverines weren't.
Biggs acquired multiple injuries to their roster and only 102 yards of total offense in the defeat. Harrison expressed that sophomore Hudson Brewer scored the lone touchdown and had a great game on both sides of the ball.
Brewer led the Wolverines in receiving yards (77), kick return yards (144) and led the team in tackles (9).
Biggs has to recover quickly as they begin Mid-Valley League play this week as they are scheduled to play at Maxwell tonight with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
