GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – The Medical Specialty Center (MSC) located at Spruce Street, home to Orchard hospitals clinical providers, specialty imaging services and physical therapy departments, has lost its parking lot – for now.
Deconstruction efforts began early the morning of Sept. 15, with crews busily removing the broken surface of existing asphalt.
Staff and patients are advised to locate the nearest and most secure available parking, making use of surrounding roadways or designated hospital parking facilities.
CVS Pharmacy, located between the Medical Specialty Center and main Orchard Hospital campuses, has extremely limited parking spaces for the volume of customers that they serve since absorbing a large portion of Rite Aid Pharmacy patrons. Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy in May of 2025, slowly closing its locations. Gridley Rite Aid stopped services June 25, according to Riteaid.com.
Orchard Hospital Director of Regional Development Landon Stark tells the Herald that the project at the Medical Specialty Center campus follows the completion of the same at the hospital.
“This project is underway to enhance safety and reduce fall risks for our community. Our main hospital parking lot has been fully refurbished, and the clinic's lot is receiving special attention with a complete replacement,” said Stark.
The previous surface of the lot was uneven, cracked in places and marred with patched potholes.
Entry and exit routes to the Medical Specialty Center building are clearly marked in bright pink, with areas like the one-off Haskell Street cordoned off.
“Our in-house teams are working closely with the asphalt crew to ensure patient care is not impacted during the project. We anticipate the parking lot will be fully completed by the end of the week!” said Stark.
