Jul 16, 2025 02:52PM ● By Mickey MrakuzicGRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – Caltrans District 3 is providing free rides through the Feather Flyer Shuttle Service in Gridley to assist community members with travel during highway construction.
Caltrans held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 1 for the two-year rehabilitation project on the State Highway 99 corridor.
The Herald recently spoke with City of Gridley City Administrator Alisa Arteaga regarding the road construction in South Gridley. Arteaga said that the work on Highway 99 created potentially unsafe conditions for residents walking on the highway.
City workers, the Caltrans liaison and citizens have voiced concerns about the unsafe conditions. The Caltrans liaison provided a solution by offering to pay for rides on the Gridley Feather Flyer Shuttle Service to alleviate the unsafe conditions.
The Feather Flyer Shuttle Service is now available for rides during Highway 99 construction. To support pedestrian safety during construction along State Route 99, residents who live between Hollis Lane and Cherry Street can receive free rides.
Residents can get a ride by calling 530-370-1945 during business hours. Schedule rides 24 hours in advance. When requesting a ride, provide your name and address (including any apartment numbers).
The service is available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. This free service is temporary while Caltrans work is being done between Hollis Lane and Cherry Street. Caltrans will notify residents when the service is no longer needed.
