GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is currently working on a major $27.3 million pavement and complete streets project on State Route 99 through the heart of the city of Gridley.

This project will improve roadway conditions, enhance safety and upgrade pedestrian and bicycle access along the corridor.

Caltrans understands that construction work can be disruptive, and the department appreciates your patience as it and our contractor work to make these improvements through town. You will hear increased noise during construction activities, especially during nighttime and early morning hours. We apologize for those inconveniences but working during daytime hours is not feasible due to traffic impacts.

To provide quiet during the upcoming noisy nights, Caltrans is providing free ear plugs that will be available at Gridley City Hall for residents affected by construction noise.

Construction began in November 2024 and it is expected to be completed in October 2026.

The construction work pauses during the winter months due to colder temperatures and wet conditions. For this project, major construction efforts are expected to continue through November, with crews expected to resume in March 2026 if the weather allows.
