Atteberry Memorial Tournament Saturday!
Jul 09, 2025 04:32PM ● By Seti LongBIGGS, CA (MPG) – The 20th annual Joshua Atteberry Memorial Family Softball Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 12 at the Biggs High School baseball field.
The tournament honors the memory of Biggs’ Joshua Atteberry and raises money for scholarships in his name and goes to support youth programs in the community, such as Vacation Bible School and the Gridley Band.
The event is family-friendly and open to all ages. Donations of $10 are requested from potential players and signup begins at 9 a.m., with the game starting at 10 a.m.
Teams are picked on the spot, and play is relaxed and geared for ultimate family fun! Creative rules, such as guaranteed home runs for children T-ball aged and under, add another layer of glee for young players.
Joshua’s mother, Melissa Jesmer wrote in a social media post on July 9, “Saturday, as we take the field and gather together for this tournament, we will carry the spirit of someone who will always be a part of our team—Joshua.”
She continued, “We miss him every day, but this Saturday we will honor him not with silence, but with joy—with the crack of the bat, the shouts from the dugout, and the smiles of every child who reminds us of the light Joshua carried.”
The family and organizers encourage the community to join them this weekend in honoring Joshua’s life, while raising money for worthy causes.
In addition to the game, prizes will be raffled off for $1 per ticket and a Benelli Shotgun up for grabs for $20 per raffle ticket.
