BIGGS (MPG) – Biggs has hired a new interim city administrator to replace outgoing Interim City Administrator Cliff Wagner.
Wagner had worked the maximum number of hours possible under California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) regulations and his last day was June 30.
Former Gridley Police Chief Rodney Harr will now carry out the interim city administrator duties.
“Thanks to all of the city council and staff for their support during this challenging time for the city,” Wagner said. “The city staff members are really the unsung heroes, fulfilling all of the requests and keeping the city running smoothly.”
Harr served on the Gridley Police force for 33 years. His roles included detective, narcotics detective, sergeant in 2009 and lieutenant in 2019, with a promotion to the position of Gridley Police Department Chief of Police in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maintaining the highest of standards, Harr mentored other officers with his exemplary skills. Harr, known locally for his institutional and policy knowledge, integrity and expertise, will be a welcome addition to the city.
The council had reached out to Harr to ask if he would assist the city by filling the role until a permanent city administrator could be found.
“Biggs is an important community,” said Harr. “I worked for 20 some years protecting it as part of the police force. I’m here to help in any way I can. The breadth of my career has been dealing with conflict resolution and de-escalation. I hope to bring a sense of calm and positivity, as well as find a permanent city administrator who reflects the community and its values.”
Mayor Bo Sheppard said, “We are thrilled to welcome Rodney Harr to Biggs. His extensive experience in public safety, crisis management and city administration will be invaluable as we navigate the upcoming months and continue to serve our community effectively.”
