SUTTER-BUTTE, CA (MPG) - The Sutter Buttes Garden Club received a $1,500 grant from the Yuba/Sutter Community Foundation last fall to replant some of the roses in the William Conkey Memorial Rose Garden.

Located behind the Sutter County Museum, 10 David Austen roses were planted in early February.  Mulch was donated by Richard’s Tree Service and Twin Cities Tree Service, and it was spread on May 4 with the help of the youth from Camp Singer.

On May 27 Sutter Buttes Garden Club members met to visit the rose garden and discuss the care of roses at 10 a.m. at the courtyard of Ettl Hall on the back side of the Sutter County Museum, 1333 Butte House Road in Yuba City.  Refreshments were served and the program began at 10:30 a.m. Improvements to the rose garden and shared ideas for its continued enhancement were discussed. After the discussion, hands-on learning sessions on propagating roses were available at the rose garden.

The Yuba/Sutter Community Foundation is a local community nonprofit foundation that distributes donations solely within the local community. They help the community by providing assistance to charitable causes and educational scholarships in our community.
