GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley Bulldogs softball team held strong and performed in an important game against the Orland Trojans.

On Tuesday, May 13 the Bulldogs hosted the Orland Trojans in a game that had huge playoff implications. The Bulldogs started fast and scored three runs in the first inning putting pressure on the Trojans. That score of 3-0 would hold as the pitching and defense from both teams played strong. That was until the fifth inning when the Trojans scored three runs and tied the game at 3-3. The Bulldogs would respond quickly and add two more runs and take the lead once again.

The Trojans would score one run in each of the remaining innings and tie the game at 5-5 when the Bulldogs went up to bat for the final time in regulation. The Bulldogs would end the game with two runs batted in and finish the game with a final score of 7-5. Sophomore Kaydenze Pruitt led the Bulldogs with three runs, three hits, and four RBI’s (runs batted in).

That win gave the Bulldogs the second seed in the D3 Softball Super Regional playoffs and secured a first-round playoff bye. The Bulldogs will face the Orland Trojans again on Tuesday, May 20, after press time, at home in their second-round playoff game.
