BIGGS, CA (MPG) - It's D6 Northern Section California Interscholastic Federation (NSCIF) Basketball Tournament time, and the Biggs High School boys’ basketball team had no trouble coming through when it counted. They managed an 89-85 win over the Los Molinos Bulldogs on Feb. 20. The Wolverines' offense stepped up their game, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The Wolverines’ win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brady Smith, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 23 points in addition to eight assists and six steals. That's the most steals Smith has posted since back in December of 2024. Skyler Long was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 17 boards.

Biggs has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last 10 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. Los Molinos' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought their season to an end.

The win over Los Molinos propelled the Wolverines into the second round of the 2025 D6 NSCIF Basketball Tournament and a home playoff game against Plumas Charter on Feb. 25. In the matchup against Plumas Charter, Biggs scored early and often, taking a 50-22 lead into halftime. Plumas Charter put up an excellent fight outscoring the Wolverines in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome their halftime point deficit. The Wolverines won the playoff game 81-62.

The Wolverines are now set to play in the league championship game on March 1 against Redding Christian. The game is scheduled to be played at a neutral site, Shasta College and tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
