Feb 06, 2025 08:47AM ● By Dillon LongmireGRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley Bulldog boys extended their winning streak to five straight to make them 18-4 overall and 5-1 in league this past week.
On Tuesday, Jan. 28 the Oroville Tigers came to town and the Bulldogs fired on all cylinders. The Bulldogs forced turnovers and missed shots throughout the entire first half holding the Tigers to only 12 points while scoring 30.
While the Tigers had a little more success scoring the ball in the third quarter (13), the Bulldogs continued their red-hot shooting for the rest of the game and ended up running away with a 62-33 win.
The game of the week took place on Friday, Jan. 31 as the Bulldogs traveled to Las Plumas to have their rematch against the Thunderbirds. The game was led by strong defensive efforts from both teams as the Bulldogs led by a slim margin for the majority of the first three quarters.
As the fourth quarter buzzer rang out, the Bulldogs led 39-28. This would start the storm back into the game from the Thunderbirds as they would catch fire and tie the game with minutes left.
It would come down to the final seconds as the Bulldogs would get a stop with the game tied 49-49. After the ball got knocked out of bounds, two seconds remained, as the ball was inbounded to junior Bikram Kullar and he shot the ball off of the catch and it went in as the buzzer sounded to give the Bulldogs a 51-49 win. Kullar finished the game with 13 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to face the Corning Cardinals at home on Feb. 4, and then on Feb. 7 the Live Oak Lions will take the short bus ride to Gridley on the Bulldogs senior night, after press time. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
