Gridley Tops at Colusa’s Raczniak Tourney

COLUSA, CA (MPG) - Coming off a rough go of it at their own invitational tournament, the Bulldogs claimed the championship at Colusa’s 43rd Annual Georgia Raczniak Tournament, which ran from Dec. 19-21.
Despite a slow first half in the opener against Williams, Gridley came out strong after intermission and downed the Yellowjackets 60-33.
Luis Murillo led a balanced attack with 12 points, Matthew Miskin added 11 points and Bikram Kullar chipped in with 10.

Following up in what was the best game of the tournament, the Bulldogs edged Sutter in overtime 53-52.
Tied at 48 at the end of regulation, Gridley was able to hold off the Huskies in extra time behind buckets from Kullar and Gus Stogsdill.
Kullar poured in 21 points, while Stogsdill tallied 11 as the Bulldogs punished their ticket to the championship game.
The Bulldogs’ Luis Murillo earned All-Tournament honors at Colusa’s Georgia Raczniak Tournament, which ran from Dec. 19-21.
Gridley had no trouble in the finals as they cruised to a 58-41 win over a scrappy Clear Lake squad.
Although no statistics from the victory were available, Kullar was selected as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, while Murillo and Stogsdill were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Bulldogs (8-3) continued preseason play at Dixon’s Steve Cauchi Ram Jam, which ran from Dec.27-Dec. 30 (after press time).
