BIGGS, CA (MPG) - The Biggs City Council members at their Dec. 10 meeting appointed a new mayor and vice-mayor: Mayor James “Bo” Sheppard and Vice-Mayor Doug Arnold.
Both men bring plenty of experience to the table. Sheppard has served as mayor before and has served on the Biggs City Council for a number of years.
Although Arnold was appointed last week to fill the vacancy that occurred from Chuck Nuckolls’ resignation, Arnold served previously on the council for 12 years and on the Planning Commission for nine years.
Newly-appointed Biggs Mayor Bo Sheppard, left, stands with Vice-Mayor Doug Arnold.
Sheppard was nominated by council member Jerome Squires and won by a 3-2 vote. Sitting Mayor Brian Bassett was also nominated by Councilmember Doug Arnold but withdrew after two rounds of voting failed to produce a winner.
Sheppard lost no time, changed seats with Bassett and presented a long list of committee appointments.
Anita Wilks is a new Biggs City Council member.
Prior to the mayoral selections, the newly-elected council member Anita Wilks was sworn in by City Clerk Roben Benish. Re-elected council member Jerome Squires was sworn in to fill the vacancy left by Councilmember Michael Buck, who resigned Dec. 3.
