GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - The Gridley High School varsity volleyball team wrapped up their season on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The team fought hard but ultimately succumbed to the Yreka Loggers in the 2024 Northern Section, CIF volleyball playoffs, three sets to one. The match was held at Famer’s Hall in Gridley, and saw the Bulldogs take the first set (25-13) only to drop the next three sets to the Loggers, giving Yreka the three set to one victory.

The Bulldogs Volleyball social media account provided a statement on the loss, “We didn't get the win tonight against Yreka, but we want to give a big thank you and show our gratitude for the support our program has received from our community this season. While our season may have ended tonight, we can't thank our fans enough for showing up for us and packing the stands at every home game this season. It was truly special to be a part of the atmosphere in Farmer's Hall on Tuesday and Thursday nights. To our GHS staff, Dawg Squad, families, GHS Parents Club, and community members THANK YOU! We saw record numbers in the stands, and we are so appreciative that you spent your weeknights with us.”

The playoff loss does not detract from the outstanding season enjoyed by the Bulldogs squad. Gridley finished the season with an overall record of 28-6, and a league record of 9-1. The Bulldogs were crowned BVL league co-champions, Hamilton tournament champions and Red Bluff tournament champions. The Bulldogs had four BVL all-league selections in Charlee Sormano, Iasbel Santillan, Charity Archer and Iris Counihan. With Charlee Sormano taking BVL league co-mvp honors.

Congratulations to the Gridley Bulldogs Volleyball players and coaches on a season well-played
