GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Gridley High School’s Interact Club, a Rotary-affiliated service club, has joined with the Chamber of Commerce to honor our servicemen, service women and nation on special holidays such as the upcoming Veterans Day.

In the past, local Boy and Girl Scout troops have placed American flags throughout the community on holidays, but since most troops in the area have dissolved, Interact has stepped up.

Advisor Liz Ayon said that “Interact Club students work with the Gridley Chamber of Commerce to line downtown Gridley with American Flags. These holidays include Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Patriot Day and Veterans Day.” She continued, “Students wake up early in the morning to set up two dozen flags around town and then put them away before sunset on each holiday.”

This year, the Gridley community will see such flags flying proudly through town this coming Monday, Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day.
