Get Out and Vote

CALIFORNIA (MPG) – With the Nov. 5 General Election just days away, the California Secretary of State’s Office has several reminders for voters.

The California Secretary of State’s Office reminds eligible citizens who missed the Oct. 21 deadline to register to vote  that the "Same Day" voter registration process can still be completed through Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 5).

Same Day Voter Registration, known as Conditional Voter Registration in state law, is a safety net for Californians who miss the deadline to register to vote or update their voter registration information for an election.

Eligible citizens who need to register or re-register to vote within 14 days of an election can complete this process to register and vote at their county elections office, polling place or vote center. Their ballots will be processed and counted once the county elections office has completed the voter registration verification process, according to the California Secretary of State’s Office.

Visit caearlyvoting.sos.ca.gov for a list of early voting locations where you can complete the Same Day Voter Registration Process.

In other election news, ballot drop-off locations opened on Oct. 8.

Vote centers opened for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties on Oct. 26.

Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location or at the Butte County Elections Office. Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day (Nov. 5) and received by 5 p.m. Nov. 12.

Call the Butte County Elections Office at 530-552-3400, Option 1 or go online to buttevotes.net/35/Elections for more information about the Nov. 5 election.
