GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - In an effort to aid those who are in need, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Gridley is organizing a Friends of the Poor Walk.

The event is non-denominational with all proceeds staying within the communities of Biggs, Gridley and Live Oak to aid those in need.

The goal is to bring awareness of neighbors who are suffering and help stabilize them. St. Vincent de Paul helps residents meet their basic needs of food, utilities, food and more.

This inaugural Walk for the Poor will be held Saturday, Oct. 26. You can join the cause by walking and gathering pledges or by making a donation.

The group will meet at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Sacred Heart Paris Hall, 1561 Hazel St., Gridley. A one-mile loop through town is planned with refreshments to be served afterwards.
