Gridley Unified Sued in Butte County Court
Oct 17, 2024 09:47AM ● By MPG StaffGRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - According to an Oct. 15 court filing with the Butte County Superior Court, the Gridley Unified School District along with former teacher, Michelle Christine Solis, are being sued by a John Doe plaintiff.
The suit stems from an incident between former Sycamore Junior High School teacher Solis and one of her students in 2021. That incident resulted in Solis pleading guilty to one count of sex with a minor and being sentenced to the maximum of four years in state prison on July 18, 2024.
The Complaint for Damages filed with the court alleges three Cause of Actions. The first Cause of Action alleges sexual assault of a minor by Solis. The second Cause of Action alleges negligent hiring, supervision and/or retention of Solis by school district employees. The third Cause of Action alleges negligent supervision of plaintiff by district employees.
The complaint identifies that the plaintiff is seeking relief for general damages, punitive damages, legal costs and other relief the court may deem fit and proper.
