RENO, NV (MPG) - Plumas Bank is pleased to announce the winners of their “Community Pride” Photo Contest for 2024.

Participants, located in the 10 northern Nevada and California communities in which Plumas Bank serves, submitted photos over the summer from June to July 2024. The photo contest asked for pictures of scenic landscapes, local main streets, and countryside landmarks that capture the surrounding atmosphere of Plumas Bank’s locations. Winners were selected with input from a guest panel consisting of judges in the professional arts, accompanied by open voting for a “People’s Choice” award.

Alongside gaining public appreciation, the contest’s top three winners and the “People’s Choice” winner also receive cash prizes. The following photos and winners for this year’s contest include:

First Place: Rainbow Road in Butte County by Jake Edwards

Second Place: Discing in the Field in Modoc County by Robin Juliana

Third Place: Sunset Over Whiskeytown Lake in Shasta County by John Walker

People’s Choice: Light in the Night Sky in Plumas County by Jake Edwards

“Northern Californians and Northern Nevadans feel a deep connection to the scenic landscapes that surround us, and our photo contest brings that connection to life,” said Stacy Kendall, Plumas Bank’s Vice President of Marketing and Community Impact. “As a community bank, we’re proud to showcase the uniqueness of the regions we serve and give visibility to their beauty through the eyes of our clients.”

“I entered this contest because I had about two dozen people send me information to enter and I also grew up using Plumas Bank,” said Jake Edwards, first-place and People's Choice winner. “I am very passionate about capturing Plumas County and beyond, especially with being a photographer for Lassen Park. I can’t thank everyone enough for voting for and choosing me for this year’s winner in the photography contest.”

The panel of guest judges consisted of professional artists and art leaders in the community including Pat Macias, Museum of Northern California Arts; Tony Manfredi, Nevada Arts Council; Christopher Rouse Islas Hernandez, Plumas Arts; Tracey Oliver, Sierra Arts Foundation; Erik Burke, Artist based in Reno, NV and Dylan Tellesen, Artist based in Chico, CA.

“Visual art is very important as it allows us to share special moments in time with others who may not be present,” said Patricia Macias, monca Executive Director. “Our panel was impressed by the submissions as each photo truly captured a distinctive experience through the lens of that photographer.”

The winning photos and additional selections from all the submissions will be on digital display at Plumas Bank’s branches, ATMs, website and social media.
