Fires Rage

BUTTE COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Butte County and surrounding areas have experienced devastating wildfires over the past few years, with fire activity remaining strong in 2024.

The CAL FIRE (California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection) website lists incident reports for fires that occur throughout the state.

Most recently, this area has experienced the Apache, Bar, Thompson and Lumpkin fires but multiple others have occurred throughout Lassen, Shasta, Butte, Tehema, Colusa, Yuba, Placer and Sacramento counties for a total of 27 documented on the CALFIRE website since June 11, as of July 10.

The following are the statistics of those that occurred within the immediate area, as of press time July 10.

Butte County

Junes Fire – 1,056 acres

Rocky Fire – 18 acres 

Apache Fire – 691 acres

Bar Fire – 36 acres

Thompson Fire – 3,789 acres

Grubbs Fire – 10 acres

Lumpkin Fire – 8 acres

 

Yuba County

Spenceville Fire – 23 acres

Double Fire – 13 acres

 

Colusa County

Sites Fire – 19,195 acres

 

CAL FIRE current emergency incidents page lists that there have been 3,543 wildfires and 207,415 acres burned as of July 10.
