LIVE OAK, CA (MPG) - The Live Oak Little League minor softball team needed one victory to get into the District 2 minor softball championship as they were 3-1 from Monday, June 10, through Saturday, June 16.

LOLL was dominant in the first two rounds of the 13-team double-elimination tournament as they beat Plumas Lake 10-2 on June 10, and shutout Westshore LL on June 11 in a 15-0 victory.

In the June 12 game versus Peach Bowl LL, Live Oak jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first half inning and added three more runs in the third inning in the eventual 8-3 victory.

LOLL had a couple-day break before they had the opportunity to clinch a spot in the championship as the only undefeated team, but they ran into Sutter Area LL.

Live Oak managed to take a 1-0 lead in the game on Saturday, June 15, as they scored on a wild pitch. That was all LOLL was to do offensively as it was Sutter Area’s game to lose after they scored a few runs in the third and fourth inning to take control 5-1.

Live Oak had another opportunity to make the championship game following the loss to SALL as they were scheduled to play on Monday, June 17, against the winner of South Sutter LL/Colusa.

If LOLL was able to get back to the championship, they would have had to beat SALL twice to win the championship.
