GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - June is nearly here and that means it is time for the Gridley Education Foundation’s “Swing for the Schools” annual golf tournament and luncheon.

For roughly the last 20 years, the tournament has been one of the principal fundraisers of the GEF. Monies raised support Gridley schools and students through the purchase of needed sports equipment or uniforms that don’t fall within the funding cycle of the school, scholarships, and even stand-up desks with the intention of giving students a break from the monotony of desks.

Gridley Unified School District Superintendent Just Kern said, “The Gridley Ed Foundation strives to improve the experience of our students in all grades across every facet of education, and I am thankful for their efforts.” He continued, “In order to maintain that high level of support, they solicit funds through their annual golf tournament. Over the years, our golf tournament has proved to be a great success and has contributed to the school’s programs.”

In addition to the base registration fee of $150, participants and non-participants can sponsor a hole on the green for $150, advertise their support with a five-cart sponsorship (name on 5 golf carts) for $300, or be a “Friend of the Foundation” which includes company recognition on a hole and on the program for $175 - $500. For $700, a team of four can play on the private course with recognition on hole, and $1000 will earn you the “Title Sponsor” position, which includes four players, recognition on a hole and at the event.

Participation in the GEF Tournament is limited due to the size of the private golf course and is typically held to 125 golfers. The dress code is Peach Tree Golf and Country Club (PTGCC) - shirts with collars, tucked, with no blue jeans.

Deadline for registration is June 1, 2024, and approaching quickly. The tournament will be held June 10, starting promptly at 10 a.m. at Peach Tree Golf and Country Club, located at 2043 Simpson Dantoni Rd., Marysville. Registration begins at 8 a.m. the day of.
