Classics line up for the annual Red Suspenders Day Car and Motorcycle Show. 

GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - A returning facet of the Red Suspenders Day event line up, the Red Suspenders Day Car Show, got some fresh tweaks.

This year, the RSD Car Show on Saturday, May 18, will have 14 award categories with first place only. Organizer Annette Boone said that the elimination of second and third places allowed for the expansion of award categories. The hopes were that it would include more participants in the awards circle.

In addition, an exclusive raffle for car show registrants only will be held. The Cash Prize Raffle will draw three tickets with first place winning $300 dollars, second $200, and third $100. Must be present to win.

The public is invited to participate in the 50/50 raffle.

The show is open to cars, motorcycles and trucks from 1990 and older. Pre-registration costs are just $10, $20 the day of. Line-up is first-come, first-serve along Kentucky street, with entry from Spruce Street. Car Show participants must have their vehicle in place before 8:00 and remain until 10:00 for judging. The show lasts until 1:00 pm. Late vehicles can still park for display but will not be included in judging.

Categories are: Best Engine, Best Interior, Best Paint Job, Best in Show, People’s Choice, Best 40’s, Best 50’s, Best Rad Rod, Best Corvette, Best Convertible, Best Chevelle, Best Pickup, Best Motorcycle and Best Antique Tractor.

Winners will be announced immediately after the parade at the Hazel St. judges table. Custom plaques will be awarded to title winners, with gift baskets going to People’s Choice and Best in Show.

To register your vehicle for the RSD Car Show, pick up a form at the Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce office located at 890 Hazel St., Gridley. Vehicles arriving the day of are encouraged to get there early.
