BIGGS, CA (MPG) - The Biggs Wolverines girls’ softball team split their season series with Los Molinos last week and can still tie for a share of the Mid-Valley League title if they take care of business.
Biggs had a win streak of 21 consecutive victories come to an end on Tuesday, April 30, in an 8-4 defeat to Los Molinos.
The first three innings zoomed by as Lady Wolverines sophomore pitcher Gracie Sheppard and Lady Bulldogs freshman pitcher Addison Jones made quick work of the opposing hitting lineups.
In the top of the fourth, Los Molinos took a 1-0 lead after Sheppard surrendered a couple of extra-base hits.

Biggs responded in the bottom half of the fourth as they took a 2-1 lead after junior infielder Mailey Seipert hit a runs-batted-in (RBI) triple and freshman Riley Harrsion brought Seipert to cross the plate after she hit an RBI single.
Harrison led the Lady Wolverines in the game with two RBI’s.
After a couple continuous innings of trading runs back and forth, the Lady Wolverines had a 4-3 lead heading into the final inning.
The Lady Bulldogs had the bases loaded with no outs, and senior pitcher Bailey Weibling, who came into the circle in relief in the fifth inning, hit a grand slam to center field and gave Los Molinos a 7-4 lead.
Weibling was able to get the bottom half of the Biggs line up out and seal the win.

Lady Wolverines Head Coach Michelle Felkins told the Herald even though they lost the streak of consecutive victories, they still had a season to play as they still had two scheduled games left on the season.
Biggs came out the next day, May 1, and beat the Lady Bulldogs 10-4 to get the loss back. The split series guaranteed Los Molinos at least a share of the MVL title as the Lady Wolverines were scheduled to play their final MVL game at Maxwell this past Wednesday, May 8.
If Biggs was able to beat Maxwell, they would clinch a share of the MVL title with Los Molinos.
The CIF NS Softball playoffs are set to begin on Tuesday, May 14, according to the NS website.
In the latest playoff points on April 30, updated by the NS prior to submission for print, Biggs was at No. 1 in the Division VI field.
Live Oak (5) and Gridley (6) were fifth and sixth in the Division IV rankings.
