GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – The annual Masonic Lodge Scholarship Breakfast brought the community out in force Sunday, March 24.

The Masons provided a nice spread to breakfast goers that included scrambled eggs with chorizo, sausage, fried country style potatoes, pancakes and waffles. If diners weren’t interested in the eggs on the buffet line, the men in aprons had no problem cooking eggs to order.

Coffee was on hand to perk guest up, but if that wasn’t strong enough, mimosas and Bloody Mary’s were also available to guests over 21.

From 7:30 to 10:30, families streamed into the hall to support the fundraiser. Each year, the North Butte Masonic Lodge awards scholarships to students from area schools including Biggs High School, Gridley High School, and Live Oak High School. Two students from each high school are awarded a $1,000 scholarship, for a total of $6,000 each year.

This year the Masons are focusing on students that plan to attend trade schools. The hope is that these scholarships will help students get into the work force faster as many traditional scholarships are aimed at students attending community colleges or universities.

Scholarship winners will be announced later in the year towards graduation, but the North Butte Masonic Lodge would like to thank all those who attended and donated to support the fundraiser.
