GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Ryan Taranto, a Gridley HS Junior, competed at both the Post level on January 6 and the District level of the American Legion Oratorical Contest this past January 20th.

Ryan will represent District 4 at the Area Level in two weeks in Elk Grove, CA.  His oration is on the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

The American Legion Oratorical Contest, a high school speech contest on the U.S. Constitution, awards scholarships at the Post level, District level, Area level, State level and National level. The contestants present a rehearsed 8 to 10-minute oration on an aspect of the Constitution in front of judges, as well as a 3 to 5-minute speech on an assigned topic discourse — a phase of the Constitution selected from its Articles and Sections.

The American Legion South Butte Post 210 is very proud of Ryan and his accomplishments and wish him further success.
