GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Once again, Gridley High School’s leadership class lent their time and talents to their annual Christmas Light Display.

Another tradition born out of the Covid-19 lockdown; the GHS Christmas Light Display celebrates its 5th year.

The event has grown since its heartfelt-and-humble beginnings. It has also morphed from a drive-thru to a walk-thru event.

Leadership students have purchased lights, blow-ups, and even a snow machine – a crowd favorite – in order to turn the Butte County Fairgrounds Courtyard Stage area into a free, glowing, wintery wonderland. Each year, the class adds more displays, and the event grows richer in holiday cheer.

On the evenings of December 14th - 16th, leadership students invited the public to enjoy unique scenes from their favorite movies, graciously accepting donations at the entrance. Displays featured scenes from Charlie Brown, the movies Elf, Frosty the Snowman, the Grinch, Nightmare before Christmas, and The Polar Express.

Leadership Advisor Jennifer Davidson-Link says that attendance was up this year, and the leadership class would like to thank everyone who attended. “We appreciate the generous donations we received throughout the event. They help to cover the cost of our new additions each year. It’s a tradition we hope to continue to grow for years to come!”
